What Does it Mean to Hire a Copywriter?

There's a certain amount of misconception and stigma in the business world around what, exactly, it means to hire a copywriter. Time, we think, for some myth-busting.


Let's break down a few common worries.



1. "Will people think that I can't write if I hire a copywriter?"


In short: Of course not! Oftentimes, the act of hiring a copywriter is about more than talent, more than "being able to write". It's about delegation and specialism.


Anyone who runs a business knows that the job comes with a massive amount of non customer-facing labour. There is absolutely nothing wrong with delegating and prioritising. Few business owners would be capable of doing everything alone.


Being able to do something is not the same as NEEDING to do it.


What's more, copywriters are experts at what they do. They aren't just writers, they're marketers.


They're masters of a specific kind of persuasive writing.


They know how to optimise your copy for search engines and repurpose content for different forms.


If you have the spare cash, they are a worthy investment.



2. "Will hiring a copywriter mean that I lose my creative control?"

At the other end of the spectrum, companies might simply say, "Write me a blog about anything in my field."
